Hydrophilic Treatment for CELLNETTA
CELLNETTA's MZM1 series features a large number ofpores in its thin film (high aperture ratio), which enhances liquid permeability.
This allows the liquid to flow by gravity alone, without having to be pumped or suctioned by an aspirator.
However, smaller mesh sizes generally have increased surface tension, which worsens permeability.
Before using CELLNETTA, we strongly recommend you pretreat it with the method described here for optimal performance.
Operation procedure
- 1. Place CELLNETTA into a centrifuge tube.
- 2. Add approximately 2 mL of 70% ethanol to the entire surface of the filter to make it hydrophilic.
- 3. Add approximately 5 mL of PBS or culture medium to the entire surface of the filter to wash off any residual ethanol.
- Key point
If there is no problem with the permeability of the cleaning solution, the hydrophilic treatment has been successful.
Note: Perform sample processing as soon as possible after completion of the hydrophilic treatment.
Note: Do not touch or press against the filter surface with a pipette or other sharp-tipped objects.
How to Use CELLNETTA
Simply pour a cell suspension into CELLNETTA to separate cells by size.
*Hydrophilic treatment prior to use is recommended.
①Set on a centrifuge tube
Place CELLNETTA on a 50 mL centrifuge tube.
② Pour in the cell suspension
Hold the centrifuge tube upright and apply the sample evenly across the entire filter surface.
③Separation is complete
Small cells and culture medium that pass through CELLNETTA are collected in the centrifuge tube.
・Contaminant removal
・Microcarrier bead removal
・Serum removal
・Preprocessing for single-cell analysis
(separation of single cells and clusters)
・Spheroid size-based sorting and concentration
・Observation of retained cells
④Recovery — operation complete
Invert CELLNETTA and recover the retained cells from the filter.
・Fluid exchange
・Media exchange
・Cell washing
・Concentration of cell suspensions etc.

*We recommend selecting a pore size slightly smaller than the target cells. Please contact us for guidance on selecting the optimal pore size for your application.
*Flow behavior may vary depending on cell morphology, flow conditions, and other factors.
